Pirates Beat Seminoles, Advance To District Semifinals

On Monday, your Port Charlotte Baseball Club advanced to the District 5A-12 Semi-Finals for the second time in the past three years as they dominated the Southeast Seminoles in virtually every facet of the game. The Pirates banged out 12 hits. Posting a 6 to 0 win, The Pirates advance in the tournament and will face the Manatee Hurricanes at 4:00 today at North Port High.

Ricky Knapp improved his record to 9 and 2 and proved why he is one of the best pitchers in the state as he threw a complete game shut out, walked only one batter, and struck out 13 Seminoles, a season high.

Ricky also proved why he is one of the best hitters in the state, he boasts a .505 batting average, as he knocked in two runs in the first inning to notch the game-winning RBI. Ricky went 2 for 4 on the night with 2 RBI's. Daniel Schiller was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI's, Shaun Lovett was 2-4 with a double and an RBI, Bradley Harrison was 2 for 3, Sam Thurston went 1 for 3 with a double, Ryan Bangert was 1 for 3, Anthony Conners was 1 for 3, and Jared McElwee was 1 for 3. Joey Bennett had a run scored.

Pirates, please make every effort to attend today's contest and cheer for your history-making Pirate Baseball Club.
